A story of vision, resilience, and financial empowerment since 1993, celebrating a special December of growth and gratitude
In the quiet highlands of Nderi back in 1993, long before smartphones and mobile banking existed, farmers gathered at the milk collection centres mainly; Nderi, Tiebae, Karai, and Kamuguga, with more than just milk in their cans. They carried dreams.
Dreams of better schooling for their children. Dreams of building decent homes. Dreams of owning livestock, expanding farms, and finding a financial partner who understood their struggles.
But the challenge was always the same, Traditional financial institutions were distant, expensive, and often unfriendly to small-scale farmers. So the farmers decided to write their own story.
Where a Vision Took Root
The members of Nderi Farmers’ Co-operative Society (dairy) came together with one powerful idea, to create an affordable and accessible Savings and Credit Institution for ordinary people with extraordinary dreams.
This vision gave birth to Ndetika Rural Sacco (NRS), named after the milk collection centres that connected their community.
In 1993, NRS DT SACCO Society Ltd was officially registered with the Ministry of Co-operatives, and a new chapter of empowerment began.
The Spark That Became a Movement
From its humble beginnings as a rural SACCO, NRS grew steadily, one member, one dream, and one goal at a time.
The SACCO’s mission was clear, to mobilise savings, offer affordable credit, and give members high returns on investment, enabling them to transform their lives with dignity and confidence.
And transform they did.
Families built homes. Farmers expanded their farms. Youth launched businesses. Communities prospered.
Today: A Trusted Financial Powerhouse
Decades later, NRS DT SACCO stands strong as a modern, reliable institution offering both FOSA and BOSA services, trusted by thousands who rely on us as their financial backbone.
Yet even with growth and innovation, one truth holds firm: the heart of NRS DT SACCO remains rooted in community, trust, and empowerment.
